Many wedding vendors operate as sole proprietors, and DayOf welcomes you. Here is what you need to know:
Business verification
Sole proprietors can verify their business by submitting one of the following:
DBA filing (if operating under a business name)
State business registration confirmation
State sales tax permit (if applicable)
Local or county business license (if required in your area)
You only need to submit one document. For details on the full list of accepted documents, see our guide on acceptable business verification documents.
If you have not registered yet
If you need to formally register your business before joining DayOf, check out our step-by-step guide: How to Legally Create a Business for Your Wedding Vendor Company.
Taxes
As a sole proprietor, you are responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes related to your vendor services. DayOf does not withhold taxes from your payouts. We recommend consulting with a tax professional.
EIN
Even if you do not have employees, an Employer Identification Number (EIN) is recommended. It lets you use a business tax ID instead of your Social Security number. You can apply for free on the IRS website.

Everything else
Sole proprietors are held to the same platform standards as LLCs and corporations. You must comply with all applicable laws, maintain accurate listings, and follow the DayOf Vendor Terms.
